Concept Design

This office is designed for Translucid Design Competition which is held by Ghazvin Glass Company in Iran . Submitting team were asked to design an office in consideration : using glass in different way , promoting existed architecture situation , presenting a better picture of company , using existed structural system , etc . They also asked for an organization for indoor and an idea for building façade.

 ?-year old existing 4 level office including two basements , located on a main street in heart of Tehran , suffered from dark spaces , old facilities and material both interior and exterior . So it turned out to be a whole renovation project except structural system .

For us , First step was to design integrated architecture to create more workable spaces . The main concept of design was covering the façade to show transparency by contradiction and this was achieved by four open private yards all over the building to bring light in . -Covering the outside façade, and using glass as a symbol of company in interior spaces.- Also given the climate situation in Tehran  ,  using glass as a façade material isn’t a proporiate option .

To cover this brief, we strive to create multiple relationships between spaces and programs using floor slabs of different shapes , according to the existed structure . Interior spaces arranged around interior voids in each level. Its    ? m2  Total floor area is distributed between offices , R&D section , a café , conference room and a hall.

By studying this closed façade , inspired by translucid concrete , all the closed surfaces are formed by light concrete added glass sections , in concrete format ; somehow glass surfaces are seen both interior and exterior spaces . During the day , this material bring sunlight into the space in a different way ; and at night , by lighting artificial light to outside , convert the project to a different city view . Furthermore , this contradiction between concrete rigidity and glass transparency in this material , is in the even of our main idea for project.
